Responsible Artificial Intelligence for progress

Sundar Pichai said at this month's Google I/O, the growth of Artificial Intelligence and such a big change in technology as we see it today. Today's Artificial Intelligence models aren't just creating new ways to connect with information, find the right information, or discover new places, Artificial Intelligence is helping humans break entire technological and scientific foundations.

Artificial Intelligence

We all stand on a new threshold, allowing us to rethink how Google can significantly improve the lives of billions of people, help businesses thrive and grow, and answer our toughest questions. At this time, we must all be clear that Artificial Intelligence will bring risks and challenges.

Calls to halt technological progress are unlikely to succeed and risk missing out on AI's significant benefits or falling behind those who have embraced its potential. Instead, we need a broad-based effort—with the help of governments, companies, universities, and more—to translate technological advances into broader benefits while mitigating risks.

When Sundar Pichai outlined the need for a shared agenda for responsible Artificial Intelligence progress a few weeks ago, Sundar Pichai said private practice, shared industry standards and government policies are essential to making Artificial Intelligence perfect. Today Google published a white paper with policy recommendations on ai that Google encourages governments to publish in three key areas – unlocking opportunities, promoting accountability and enhancing security:

1. Opportunities to unlock the maximum of AI's economic promise

Economies that embrace AI will see significant growth, rivals that are slow to adopt. Artificial Intelligence will help various industries produce more complex and valuable products and services and increase productivity despite the challenges faced by a growing population. Innovation and growth using these AI-powered products and services promises to encourage small businesses and workers who are not routine in their jobs. Can focus on more rewarding elements.

2. Promoting responsibility while reducing the risk of abuse

Artificial Intelligence has already helped take on challenges from disease to climate change across the globe and can be discussed as a powerful force for progress. But if not done irresponsibly and responsibly, AI systems can exacerbate current societal problems. For example, misinformation, discrimination and misuse of tools. Without trust and confidence in AI systems, businesses and consumers will be hesitant to adopt AI, allowing AI to retain its benefits.

3. Increasing global security while preventing bad guys from exploiting this technology

As Artificial Intelligence has important implications for global security and memory, generative AI can help create disinformation and manipulated media. AI-based security and research improvements and intelligence are driving a new generation of cyber, while AI-generated exploits can enable more sophisticated cyber attacks by adversaries.

With full recognition of the potential challenges, we are convinced that a policy agenda centered on the key pillars of opportunity, responsibility and security can unlock the benefits of AI and ensure that those benefits are shared by all.

Artificial Intelligence is very important not to be controlled and not controlled well. From Singapore's AI Verification Framework to the US's pro-innovation approach to AI regulation to the US National Institute of Standards Technology's Management Framework, Google is encouraging governments around the world to seriously address the right policies and frameworks for these new technologies. Google looks forward to supporting this effort.
